This publication includes Frank Hamilton Cushing's report on Zuni Fetishes, originally printed in 1883 by the Government Printing Office, Washington, DC. The work is reprinted in its original form, using the same type and page and plate numbers. Cushing was a member of an expedition sent by Major J. W. Powell, Director of the Bureau of American Ethnology. This anthropological study was written during the several years that Cushing lived with the Zuni.   It has been  incorporated in an expanded 9" x 12" version, annotated by Mark Bahti, who provides supplemental text on Zuni life and art. Full-color photographs show modern fetish art by the Zunis, with commentary explaining the cultural significance of the works.

KC Publications, Inc., 1999. Text reproduced from Second Annual Report of the Bureau of Ethnology as submitted to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, 1880-81 by J.W.Powell, Director.
Paperback, 48 pages.
