"Loving Prayer", Metal Sculpture, by Kathy "Elk Woman" Whitman (Mandan, Hidatsa & Arikara)
Item Number: CX0035
Woman wearing a shawl with Medicine Wheel design, hair blowing in the wind, holding an eagle feather fan in one hand and cedar bag in the other.
"Sometimes, when we pray, we use cedar and sometimes we use tobacco. She is holding a bag that contains cedar and she is praying with it. The eagle feather fan is to help carry the prayers to the Creator. When the prayer is finished, the cedar is put into the fire with smoke carrying up the prayers. Her look is thoughtful with love and sincerity."
Made of hand fabricated steel that has been painted and coated with a glossy protective finish.
