Indian Painters of the Southwest: The Deep Remembering by Katherin L. Chase

In 1998, a group of ten respected Indian painters representing seven different Pueblo groups and the Navajo Nation were hosted by the School of American Research in Santa Fe, New Mexico to reflect on and share ideas about their art, its cultural heritage, and its future direction. Painting on canvas and paper is a 20th century innovation, but the art is based on centuries of art that was painted on rock, pottery and kiva walls.
