Edwin Earle arrived in Oraibi in December of 1935 and stayed for a year. In that time, he witnessed a full cycle of kachina dances and he painted images of the kachinas. First published in 1938, Dr. Edward Kennard prepared a text that explains the meaning of kachina ceremonialism. A rare book which brings the kachinas to life for the contemporary student of Hopi religion.
