Item Number: SSBU11
This cast sterling silver belt buckle features a rectangular piece of turquoise in light blue with a golden brown matrix by Navajo artist Gary Custer.

Sandcasting is a labor intensive process in which a selected design is carved into two halves of either tufa/sand stone.  The halves are then placed together and molten silver is poured into the mold through a channel.  Once cooled, the artist removes the piece, which may then be shaped or finished into the final piece of jewelry.  Typically, one only piece can be molded.  This is because the tufa/sand stone is quite brittle and delicate and often cracks or breaks in the sandcasting process.

Width: 2 3/4" Height: 2 1/2", For belts 1.5" Wide
