This Navajo ceremonial basket was hand coiled using sumac wrapped around rods of willow. The ceremonial basket is used at a variety of times and is often referred to as a "wedding basket" since that's a prevalent ceremonial use. The basket design It is represents life and all the pathways, from origin (center) and throuhout life. Generally, the black can represent challenges or struggles, the red can represent family, and the white can represent the beauty way/enlightenment.
