Fields of cotton greeted the Spanish when they arrived in the sixteenth century. Pueblo woven cotton textiles were already a part of the everyday lives of the people in the villages. These fabrics were highly valued and traded extensively. Today most of the items woven are for the private use of the Pueblo people. This catalog is in conjunction with an exhibit of the same name and gives the reader an insight into the textiles of the Pueblo people.
