Leonard Chana was a self-taught artist who captured the essence of the Tohono O’odham people and the subtle details of their life into his art, evoking the smells, sounds textures and tastes of the Sonoran Desert while depicting the values of his people. This book is an autobiographical work, written in Chana’s own voice that speaks through oral history interviews with anthropologist Susan Lobo.
