<< Previous in Pottery Next in Pottery >>
Price: $225.00
Item Number: ATST134

With six seemingly animated children climbing all over this Koshare storyteller, the gleeful expression of the storyteller cannot help but charm. Handmade by Lupe Lucero (Jemez/Laguna), the artist created this piece using local clay and natural pigments. Adorned with corn husk pigtails and watermelon slices for refreshment simply add to the charm. This piece will be a great addition to any collection.

“Storytellers” are clay figures that depict the elders sharing and teaching culture and history through oral traditions with others, most often the younger generation. Children are often seen climbing on adult laps and sitting and listening with great interest and excitement through the narratives.
