This stamped and textured sterling silver bear pin by Vernon Begaye has a heartline that is accented with turquoise, coral, lapis and a hint of rhodochrosite.

When Vernon Begaye was six years old, he was already helping his parents, Jimmy and Ella Mae Begaye, to make jewelry. As a teenager in the late 1970s, he left the reservation to make his own way as an artist.  He has developed his won distinctive style of contemporary jewelry, and has won many awards, including the distinguished SWAIA Fellowship Award in 1993.
