This painted elk hide by Blackfeet artist,Darrel Norman, is titled "Dream of The Black Tail Deer Lodge" and depicts a man receiving his direction on the way his tipi lodge should be painted.
This direction is received in dreams, bringing the vision to the man of his tipi lodge, of what it should be and how it should be painted. Darrell explains that these visions are traditionally verified and approved and after the process, the man will know what he is to do. In this man’s dream, he has envisioned the Black Tail Deer Lodge.
Painted with acrylic and adorned with deer dew claws and glass beads.
