Necklace - Mosaic Inlay Tab on White Melon Shell by Charlene & Frank Reano (San Felipe & Kewa Pueblos)

The single tab on this reversible necklace by Charlene and Frank Reano, is suspended on beads of white melon shell with highlights of orange and purple spiny oyster shell, black jet, turquoise and an inlaid bead.  The four sides of the tab are inlaid with bright blue turquoise, dark blue lapis, orange spiny oyster shell, creamy melon shell and white and gold mother of pearl and black jet.

Charlene continues to win many awards for her superlative mosaic inlay jewelry in juried competitions at shows across the country.  Charlene and her husband, Frank Reano (Kewa, formerly Santo Domingo Pueblo), often collaborate on the jewelry.  Known for her innovative designs, Charlene is always experimenting with new materials and coming up with new designs, bringing this ancient technique that was practiced by the ancient Puebloans into the 21st Century.
