William Randolph Hearst assembled a remarkably complete collection of all of the major types of Navajo textiles woven between 1800 and 1920 which is housed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History (LACMNH). This book is an effort to bring attention to that collection. In the first chapter of this book Navajo weaving history is provided; the second chapter tells the reader about William Randolph Hearst and his role in the history of collecting Navajo textiles. The third chapter contains photographs of the pieces along with a detailed scholarly analysis.
