Oil paintings of blanket designs hung in the office of John Lorenzo Hubbell for customers to see. When a weaving was commissioned, Hubbell showed the design to a weaver who proceeded to weave the design with slight variations which made the weaving his or her own. This small book, one of the "Look West" series, gives us insight into this significant time. With photographs of the prints and thoughts of weavers interspersed throughout, the reader will gain a new understanding of how John Lorenzo Hubbell and The Hubbell Trading Post helped in shaping Native American textile art.
