From 1986 through 1989, Helga Teiwes interviewed and photographed the dolls of a wide range of Hopi carvers to update the photographic records for the Arizona State Museum. This book is the result of the exhibit that grew out of this task. With chapters on Hopi life and religion, the cermonies, carving techniques and others, this book is a good source for anyone wishing to know about Hopi kachina dolls and their carvers.
