This book gives the reader a chance to learn about and see the most extensive collection of Northwest Coast Indian art which is housed at the American Museum of Natural History. The collection was formed between 1880 and 1910 when early anthropologists visited the Northwest Coast tribes. Members of the Jessup North Pacific Expedition interacted with the people of the areas they were visiting and purchased goods and artwork. The book is full of written history and photographs of the art collection.
