Clip Ye'ii Face Inlay Earrings by Jimmie Harrison (Navajo)
|
Item Number: MSE0130B
hese striking earrings by award-winning Navajo artist Jimmie Harrison feature one of his signature designs - the face of a Ye'ii, or Navajo deity. In these earrings, jet has been inlaid with light blue turquoise, red coral, gold lip mother of pearl, pink rhodonite, light purple phosphosiderite and dots of sterling silver.
Considered to be one of the top stone-on stone inlay jewelers, Jimmie Harrison first studied painting at the Del Debbio School in Paris, France. When he returned to New Mexico, he began observing his friend, Jessie Monongya, as he worked, then did inlay work for Jessie's father, Preston Monongye, from 1980 to 1981. After that, he struck out on his own, developing his distinctive designs -- night skies, Navajo Ye'iis, and Southwest landscapes -- and shapes, such as the half-moon shape of these earrings. Each stone is painstakingly cut and set each stone into the silver, and then polished to perfection.
3/4" long by 3/4" wide.
