Standing on a base of red pipestone, this "Cattail Collection" doll by Ramona Morrow is wearing a red calico dress with a beaded yoke and beaded moccasins, and she is carrying a beaded purse on her belt.
Ramona Morrow has been making Native American artwork since the early 1990s. She remembers that when she was a child, her grandmother always had a tray of colorful beads on the table. Years later, when a neighbor asked her to make a doll, Ramona found herself fascinated with the process. She created a line of handmade dolls, "The Cattail Collection," made of dyed muslin and leather, stuffed with cattails. Some are single dolls, and some are families or horses and riders, and there is even a buffalo or two.
