Buckle - Natural Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Raised Inlay by Bennard & Frances Dallasvuyaoma (Akimel Oodham/Hopi)

Hand cut and shaped pieces of natural turquoise from the Sleeping Beauty mine, in luscious shades of light blue, are set in a way that resembles the stone work in ancient Hopi homes in this outstanding belt buckle by Bennard and Frances Dallasvuyaoma.  The stones are set in sterling silver that was cast in sandstone that they gather at Hotevilla on the Third Mesa, creating a beautiful texture that contrasts with the polished surfaces of the stones and of the shiny surface of the polished sterling silver.
