Bronze "Peaceful Thoughts", 12/35, by Caroline Carpio (Isleta Pueblo)
|
Item Number: CONSCC03
Award-wiining Isleta potter and sculptor Caroline Carpio captured this serene Pueblo potter as she was polishing her newest creation with a smooth stone that may have been passed down to her from her mother or grandmother. Caroline explains her inspiration for this lovely piece in these words, "In homage of the Pueblo potter's sacred connection with Mother Earth, the ancestors, and ways of life, I created this piece."
Working in clay, Caroline makes both pottery in a contemporary style and the originals of her sculptures that are then cast in bronze. "At times, my artwork is a reflection of my inner prayers and other times, it is the stories of our ancestors that inspire a new vision. I would like my sculptures to preserve a story and educate who we are many generations from now," she says.
Height 18", width 15", depth 12". Comes with artist's statement and care instructions.
