Bronze "Sedona", 14/35, by Caroline Carpio (Isleta Pueblo)
|
Item Number: CONSCC04
In this bronze pot, "Sedona," award-winning Isleta potter and sculptor Caroline Carpio captures rivers, mesas and colors of the earth. The contrasts of the bronze and mottled pink, accented with "turquiose beads" result in an elegant and graceful bronze pot. The "turquiose beads" are handpainted bronze in order to cature the truest color of Caroline's original in clay. Caroline tells us, "This piece is an articulation of my gratitude for the rain, hence the rain and cloud designs."
Working in clay, Caroline makes both pottery in a contemporary style and the originals of her sculptures that are then cast in bronze. "At times, my artwork is a reflection of my inner prayers and other times, it is the stories of our ancestors that inspire a new vision. I would like my sculptures to preserve a story and educate who we are many generations from now," she says.
Height 6 1/4", width 8". Comes with artist's statement and care instructions.
