The bronze patina/colors are rich and strong in "River of Life II" giving a great presence to the bronze pot by award-winning Isleta potter and sculptor Caroline Carpio.  The "turquoise beads" are handpainted bronze in order to capture the truest color of Caroline's original in clay. Caroline states, "The 'River of Life' series comes from the inspiration and memories of my artist in residence in Japan; the reverence that the Japanese culture have with the spirit of nature is similar to that of the Native American culture, and being surrounded by so much water, this is what my heart wanted to express."

Working in clay, Caroline makes both pottery in a contemporary style and the originals of her sculptures that are then cast in bronze.  "At times, my artwork is a reflection of my inner prayers and other times, it is the stories of our ancestors that inspire a new vision.  I would like my sculptures to preserve a story and educate who we are many generations from now," she says.

Height 6", width 9 1/2". Comes with artist's statement and care instructions.
