Hilde Barnes makes incomparable pieces combining beads, porcupine quills and sweetgrass. This complex barrette has a central design of gray and blue beads surrounded by porcupine quills arranged so that their natural change of color echoes the central design. The outer ends of the oval have more beadwork in white, blue, yellow, orange, red and gray, and a braid of sweetgrass finishes the outer edge.
