Alabaster Buffalo Reclining by Cliff Fragua (Jemez Pueblo) SOLD

This powerful buffalo, carved out of alabaster by noted sculptor Cliff Fragua, is reclining to take his rest.

 

Cliff Fragua comes from a well known family of Jemez potters.  His work ranges from tabletop sculptures to larger than life works, in stone and bronze.  His statue of the Pueblo leader Po'pay is the only piece by a Native American in the National Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
